Herbal remedies were widely used in early America. Lavender was used for a variety of purposes and has a lovely scent. Included in this set is a reusable 4 oz tin with enough dried lavender to make 12 concoctions of Lavender Gargle, the original 1640 recipe, and a reusable muslin tea bag. The original 1640 recipe from ‘Theatrum Botanium’ claims to aid in the pains of the teeth and restore a lost voice (laryngitis.) This herbal recipe is appropriate for living history displays and interpretation. The wooden bowl and spoon are sold separately in my shop. *Disclaimer- Herbal remedies are often very useful and successful, but I do not make any claims of guaranteed results.
